Ruth Elliot looking seriously at the camera

Meet your coach:

I’m passionate about working with emerging and established female leaders so that they can realise their full potential at work and beyond.

After all we bring the whole of ourselves to work.

Before becoming a Coach, I had a successful career as a leader working across both private and public sectors in Australia and the United Kingdom working in a variety of roles in Health, eHealth, Academia and Information Technology arenas. This experience gave me a deep understanding of the challenges faced, when working in fast-paced, innovative environments.

At 31, I was new to Australia and very ambitious. Then I suffered a serious debilitating injury. The experience forced me make positive changes to how I lived and worked.

Sadly for years I have seen and experienced many unhealthy and toxic behaviours in the workplace. Leaders (I was one of them!) overwhelmed, thrown in the deep-end, doing their best with little support and expected to 'just get on with it'. I decided I wanted to be part of the solution rather than merely complaining about the problem. So I left my career in IT and went back to study.

I have a Master’s degree in Coaching Psychology* and over 10 years experience coaching an array of leaders from mid management to ‘C’ suite from diverse organisations and backgrounds. I combine both the art and science of coaching. I draw from robust theories of adult development and the behavioural sciences, only using interventions and approaches that have a strong evidence base. In 2024 I also qualified as a Mindful Self Compassion teacher. With this as a strong foundation, I honour your authentic inner voice and your own unique creative expression.

*The definition of Coaching Psychology is ‘the systematic application of behavioural science to the enhancement of life experiences, work performance, the wellbeing and potential of individuals, groups and organisations.’ (Australian Psychological Society, IGCP, 2020).
